1+1 / Intouchables

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker.

This film is hype so I couldn’t allow myself miss it. And I’m glad I watched it because it turned out really good. The idea isn’t new, of course. But unlike other movies about disabled or dying people this one is not a drama but a comedy. And very good comedy indeed. Also film’s got an amazing OST (some of which I put at the end of post).
François Cluzet and Omar Sy did their job really good. The film is based on the real life of a millionaire Philippe Pozzo di Borgo  who gave his advice concerning almost all the scenes in the film. Being based on the real life and having such an amazing light humor has made this film truly different. After watching you would have the strongest desire to live and be happy about your life. Philippe’s desire was to make the film about him a comedy, not a drama full of sorrow.

I want to note the brilliant comedic talent of Omar Sy which would make you split your side with laughing. He plays ordinary black guy who is very simple-minded and this his trait always leads to funny situations. But exactly this simplicity shakes Philippe’s world.
The most memorable moment for me is in the opera when Driss laughed nearly at everything. He couldn’t get what all about in opera cause it is so was boring etc. Strangely people around agreed with him. I memorized another moment as well – the moment when Driss danced. You should just look! But the greatest moment was of course Driss’s realization that he can do art. So he found his way in life and helped find it another person.

Noteworthy they haven’t even finished the script when invited Omar to play Driss. They should’ve seen only him for this part. For this part Omar lost 5 kg because he thought that Driss should look fit. What is more, François visited Philippe nearly before the shooting to watch and memorize his manners and habits.

All in all the film is great, life-asserting. I recommend it to everyone.

P.S. check out amazing OST!
